In August I saw this HUGE FULL Moon rising. I
had my camera with me and I headed like a mad woman to the Isle of
Palms. The sunset was incredible and the moonrise was making me
pull over JUST in case. I'm a photographer with a moon obsession. When I
got out to the beach I shot the moon and it looked so small in the
photos, I looked more like the 2nd photo above, but I thought it was a
little too sharp and I added the haze. See, me and the moon are not the
best of friends and I need the new Digital Minolta SLR. So when I
added the haze I liked what I got, but with the last full moon (Oct
2004) that moon was so big and orange that was the color that was in my
head. To make the photo have the same number of sea oats when
printed 8x10 or larger I added more top and bottom. (8)
One day I will get that moon the way I want it and not
have to change it... Till then, I guess I have to use what I have...
In July I headed out to see the Turtle Team
wait for a nest to hatch. It was a FULL "Blue" Moon and there
was a lot of hope that the nest would hatch and the babies would head
out to sea. Not this night, but the moon was out and looking great!
This was a cold night on the Beach.
Dressed in a heavy winter coat and warmed with the memory of the moon
rise the night before, I got sand every where on my camera. The SC
sand is very fine and can get blown everywhere. When the moon rose it
was dark orange. It was so big, but so dark that even with a tripod
& shutter release, the camera had to stay open to long to get the
light. So I got the color. The moon looked BIGGER than what
the film picked up so I added the moon to the wider shot. As the
moon came up it got lighter in color.
The landscape
was taken first and then just after that I zoomed into the moon.
Combined the 2 and darkened the landscape.
