Hawaii (1997) is my favorite subject to
photograph! I
love Hawaii with all my heart and soul. It's just not the magical charm
of the islands or the scent of flowers that greet you the moment you
walk off the jet way nor is it the rainbows that stretch across the sky
leading from the green swept mountains to a sea of 15 shades of blue.
What I love the most about Hawaii is something that is not seen but
felt. It's HER spirit. Once you have felt it, you can hear her
calling for you to come back home. Those who have heard her call know
this feeling. It's a longing, a passion, a LOVE like
no other. For those who miss this special place, I like to call HOME, I
hope you enjoy these images. One of the songs that inspires me the most
when I am out with my cameras is the song by Danny Couch, These
Islands... I have made a special slide show using Danny's music*
and my images of Hawaii.
Sea Turtles (2000) are
now one of my true
loves. A sea turtle was something I thought I could NEVER be interested in. I learned in
1999 Never to say never to something because as soon as you swear off
something, it will come to be something you like or even become a passion! I was given
a turtle figurine for Christmas from a dear friend. I thought they had lost
their minds giving me a turtle item, I didn't DO TURTLES, I just wasn't
interested. Then about 2 weeks later I shot the image I call "Dancing
Turtles". I still wasn't interested, then about 5 months
later I went swimming on the North Shore of Oahu. Then it happened.
I saw the turtles under the water looking at ME. I had seen turtles before, but
I never FELT a turtle's spirit until I came face to face with them in their
world. After
that moment it seemed like I was blessed with some really nice turtle shots. A
number of images are being used on different projects throughout the world. I have a few
published in a book. A couple of turtle organizations have also been able to use my
images to help educate people. Still nothing can top when school kids e-mail me
asking to use my images!
If you have done a school project on a Sea Turtle and would
like to see your information on this site, please send me an
e-mail. I will give you credit. Let's help the turtles!
Hawaii has amazing beaches, some of the
best and most unique in the world. On the Big Island of Hawaii
there are white sand, black sand and there's even a green sand
beach. I visited the Green Sand beach (after visiting the black
sand beach) back in July 2002. Read my story and learn about WHY the
beach is GREEN... The background photograph on this website is from the green sand
beach. A shorten version of this story may appear on another
website. Written by Kathy Boast
I would like to have some fact pages on other sea life or
other Hawaii related things. If you have an interest in Sea Life or
Hawaii and would like to submit an article that would go along with any
of my photographs, please send me an e-mail.
I do give credit. If you have a website this is a great way to get new
visitors to your website. Here are some of the subjects I would like to
focus on.
Aloha Joe listeners who are heading to Hawaii for the
Hawaii Music Awards... Get ready to put "ONE FOOT ON SAND!"
in March when we all get together somewhere to talk story. We
are hoping that some of the local artists will drop by for photos for Aloha
