First Impressions can change when you find ALOHA

Written by Mildred Bergman photos provided by Kathy Boast.

Our first impression, beyond the lei greetings and lovely smells of the airport, was eight days of disappointment. We didn't get it!
Then people in our auto sales group led us to dinner under the banyan tree, lit in the bazaar with tiny lights. Later, we walked along the beach, wading in warm rippling waves, and different music from each hotel we passed. We were captured for ever after.

When Lee and I discovered the sound of top forties dance music, almost symphonic in Trappers Lounge on the Avenue, we were concerned for maybe five minutes that the volume would damage ear drums. Never again did we care! It was Jimmy Borges, fantastic in his artistry, that drew us, night after night, to dancing from the beginning to three o'clock lights out. Everything he sings is unforgettable style, jazz or old classics that he updates to make it sound as if it were written today, or today's that makes you want to dance.   9danny-jimmy.jpg (68567 bytes)
