Hawaiian Photographer Jon Mozo 1971-2005

Jon Mozo had developed a style unique from anyone else in Hawaii. His passion was capturing one of nature's most powerful artforms (waves). His website noted that this artform came with a price. He would risk his life and his equipment to get his compelling images. It was his passion to capture the world from below or above the water line. Jon was a favorite among local musicians. Jon Mozo shot over 20 CD covers.

On Wednesday, February 9, 2005 2 p.m. at Ehukai Beach Park (Banzai Pipeline) Jon Mozo was doing what he loved the most, being in the water. A friend who was with Jon noticed he was no where to be found. Lifeguards were alerted that a swimmer was in trouble. An off-duty lifeguard, in the water at the time, dove down and found Mozo with "massive head injuries." Mozo was brought ashore but lifeguards were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at Kahuku Hospital. 

He leaves behind a wife and four young children.
