I will think most will agree Kim has a lot of talent. Kim is a self taught artist, only taking art in high school. I asked Kim to share a little about herself and how she she started painting and her price ranges. Remember this name I think we will see a lot of great paints from this talented Hawaiian Resident..

"Everyone in school needed a fine arts credit to graduate (like band, art or shop) and since a lot of people didn't take band (I did though!) they decided to take the art class for the credit. Our teacher was kinda a "free spirit" if you will. He would assign a project and if you did it you got an "A" and if you didn't you'd get an "A". I think you get my drift! Needless to say I taught myself with a lot of trial and error. I didn't start painting until high school, before that I only did pencil work. Up until we moved to Oahu I did paintings for myself and family...usually a reproduction of someone else's. Then we move to the beauty of Hawaii..... it is totally breathtaking! I felt inspired from the get go!! I started with my first original paintings about one year ago. I LOVE the sea turtle! That's mostly what I've been doing here lately. I've painted whales, monk seals and tried a dolphin. The first one was VERY scary!! I've pretty much decided to stick with what I feel like I'm good at....the turtles!!

I can paint pretty much anything, usually I just need a reference....I just love what I do, so I think that helps a lot.

I've also found a little frame shop/gallery that will put some of my paintings in it. As of now we decided that if we could sell a Glicee' for $200.00 we would be doing pretty good. We also want to get smaller ones around the $30-$40 range. So that's about my price range for right now. The sunset painting I did from your work is on a 18 x 24 stretched canvas, done in acrylic."

If you would like Kim to paint something for you, please let us know. If you would like her to paint from one of my images please let us know which one. We are talking about doing a series of images inspired from my photographs, so IF you see something that looks like my photo, look to see if it's by Kim. Kim does have my permission to use my images.  I think she does an amazing job and I am flattered she would like to do a series of Hawaiian paintings based from my photography.

Here is some sample work by Kim Mitchell. The top one was inspired from the photo Wave Breaking.

This one below is from the Couple on the back of the car at Sunset. Now there is a Marine (father) and two young children. Another amazing Job!!
