Wyland's
Foundation is making waves to save our oceans. Wyland believes that
the best way to teach someone about environmental conservation is to
show them what they are conserving. (see

The Wyland
Foundation also helps to bring us those AMAZING LIFE SIZE Whaling Walls.
Wyland's original Whaling Wall number 6 was once on
the side of the old Kaiser Hospital that greeted you into Waikiki years
ago. Back then it was once said to be the second most
popular landscape to be photographed on Oahu, the first being Diamond Head (according to a
major photo developing
company).
The first Whaling Wall #6 took 4 months to
complete was dedicated on Earth Day 1985. The second Wall #6 took 2 weeks to complete along with WALL
#85. Both were dedicated on December 15,1999.
Wyland, who paints the walls with a few dedicated volunteers,
says, "When you are painting for FREE, you have to learn to
paint fast!". At these walls, he spends time painting with the
kids who come to meet this
artist and learn about the ocean. Wyland believes that our children
will be tomorrow's teachers, scientist and legislators. They will make
the decision that effect our world.
Wyland not only
brings attention to the life that lives in our ocean, he IS someone who
lives with the spirit of ALOHA and never gives up in
believing that one person CAN make a
difference!
